Link Paola  1940 Ford

Link Paola built this custom in late 1939 or early 1940. Link was one of the first pesons who recieved the new 1940 Ford convertible from Ford and it is said he saw a lot of angy faces from Ford dealers when he drove his chopped and customized 1940 Ford on the streets even before they had the stock 1940 Fords in their showrooms.

The windshield was chopped and Carson made the padded top for it. The running boards where removed and new panels where fitted to cover the chassie. The hood was welded to a single piece and all the chrome was removed from it. A nice peak flows now from the hood into the grille. A set of 1937 De Soto bumpers have always been a perfect match for 1940 and earlyer Ford customs and this convertible is no exceptions. Two front bumpers where used both front and rear. All the side chrome including the door handles where left and it looks like the original taillights where also used. Slight lowering and wide white walls with some nice ripple disc single bar flipper hubcaps.
