Paul Snooky Janich  1941 Ford Coupe

1941 Ford Business Coupe radically chopped with perfect flow of the top helped with the leaning back of the windshield. At the front the sheet metal was reshaped to fit the contours of the ‘46 Chevy grille. The headlights where extended and frenched and the hood was dechromed. Removed and covered runningboards ad tto the models look. Both front and rear fenders where molded to the body with an absolutely georgious smooth line on the rear fender to body. The door and trunk corners where rounded and the drip rails removed.

1947 Ford bumpers and bumper guards where used. First the tailights where set into the rear bumper guars in a similar way as was done on the Matranga 1940 Merc and Jesse Lopez 1941. Later stock bumper guards where added and small round taillights set into extentions made from molded in tubing where added to the rear fenders. Paint was a deep metallic green.

The 1941 Ford was customized by Sam Barris for George “Snook” Janich starting in 1946 and on going through 1948. Cost of the work approx $2000. Paul Janich is George’s nephew. He received the car at the age of 16 in 1952. As George got a new 1953 Merc. The rear end collision happened to George Janich while on his way to college at UC Santa Barbara.  He sold the car and the trail goes cold until it turns up in Kansas in 1973.  The car is currently undergoing a complete restoration into the first version with smooth hubcaps and taillights in the 1946 Ford bumper guards.
