Gene Gerret 1936 Ford
Gene Gerret 1936 Ford
This custom was started by Westergard in '43. When Gene was called to war the car was in primer. Harry painted in two shades of green, medium green for the body and light green for the top. Gene’s Mother checked on the progress of the car at Harry Westergards back jard shop, while Gene was serving. The car features a 39-40 Pakard grille on a modified to fit the new grille front. The hood was peaked. Headlight pods where created and molded on top of the fenders, headlight rings where chrome and not molded in. The hood sides where modified with Oldsmobile trim pieces. The running boards where removed and the front fenders where extended downwards where the running board used to be. The rear fenders recieved a chrome plated rock guard. 1939 Ford taillights where set low on the rear fenders and the licence plate was set behind a glas inset low on the rear panel, a typicla early custom trend.
The windshield was chopped and a new hand made metal removable top was created. 1937 DeSoto ribble bumpers and a set of single bar flippers are the finishing touch.
Then Garret shipped it out to Guam where he was stationed. Butler Rugard (also a Thunderbolt member) bought it soon afterwards. Then it was sold again and since then the whereabouts of this classic custom are unknown.
