Gil Ayala 1942 Ford
One of Gils personal rides was this gorgeous chopped 1942 Ford coupe. The top had a wonderful flow on the top, and everything was molded in to the body with a very large radious. When Gil chopped the car he also removed the drip rails – which was a very common practice back in the late 40’s and early 50’s – and made the top taper back a lot. Even the door side window looks to be chopped more in the back than it is in the front, all that to make the stream line taper even more dramatic. The flow from the top into the turret panel into the trunk must be one of the smootherd on any 1941-48 Ford coupes. The grille was replaced by a smoothed teeth set up and the headlights where molded into the fenders. At the back the stock taillights where molded in on home made pods that extend from the rear fenders in a much lower position than where the taillights used to be. All exterior chrome was removed.
Gil Painted the car in a Metallic brown/gold color. Later the car was updated with Ribbed 1949 Plymouth bumpers. Its current whereabout is unknown.
