Hal Peterson  1941 Mercury

Built in the mid/late part of the 1940’s in this wonderful tail-dragging style. Most of the body work was done by George Cerny. I guess you can say not a whole lot was done on this 41 Mercury. But what was done was just perfect.

The windshield was chopped and Hall of Oakland made the padded top for it. In the photo above we can see the wonderful flow of the top, which is a repeat of the shape we see on the trunk/rear quarters in this angle. The hood was smoothed and the center strip removed. The side trim was cut down to only about a foot long on the hood sides. The headlights where not frenched into the fenders like we see on so many customs. the chrome trim ring ads a nice bit of contrast to the front. The trim on the fneders was removed and the fenders where molded to the body. But with a rather sharp edge.

The bumpers where replaced with those from a 46-48 Ford model.

The car was lowered all around but a bit more at the rear for the most perfect tail-dragging stance. Sombrero hubcaps on wide whites and a set of S-112 Appletons finish this great looking custom.
