Eddy Dye  1929 Ford Roadster

Text by Ulf “Wolf” Christiansson

I know your album is dedicated to customs and thats why this beauty fits on so well in this crowd . A custom built body as slick as this one surely deserves to be in your album. The body on this Hotrod is a product of its time called tracknose Hotrods and where the influence exacly came from I dont know but they were used on ElMirage and Bonneville for better aerodynamic purposes. I guess the "Miller" built racecars and the wooden track twenties racecars would be the prerunners. Also the "modifyed" Bonneville racers had some of this round nose style , then I wonder when this was built around the 1950 the Jaguar sportscar had a similar grillstyle if it didnt have some influence on this grill design but I dont know, some of the other tracknosed Hotrods where built before must have played a part too! One funny thing about this car is when it was in a article in R&C in the fifties there was no mentioning about the engine and that is odd for an article about a HotRod dont you think. The rest Duvalle windshield, welded doors, channeld body, Front bumper and lights is just pure genious design and Im soooooooo looking forward to see this beauty being restored back to its full glory again.
