D.Holland  1941 Ford

In the 1951 Custom Cars #101 Trend Book this car was called “Purple Pleasure Pursuit.

The top on Holland’s 41 Ford was chopped considerably more that on the Welch Ford. But the padded top was created by Chavez. The front of a 1942 Ford was grafted to the 1941 body and 1948 fenders where used on all four corners. The where mounted 2 inches higher than stock and molded to the body. The stock 1942 grille was relieved of its center piece and the grille shell was removed and replaced by a new one grafted from sheet metal. And molded to the front fenders. Just as on Welch his custom the top portion of the front was modified to flow into the hood. But on this custom the shape of the hood now follows the fenders downwards at the front like it is on the 1942 Ford. The headlights where molded to the fender as where the gravel pan front and rear. ’49 Plymouth bumpers where used. Stock 48 Ford taillights where set into custom pods which where molded to the rear fenders in a similar way as what Ayala used on the Welch Ford. The Beltline side trim was removed completely on this custom but the 1948 Ford fender and running board side trim was retained, this way the custom was visually lowered a bit more than what was already done using dropped front axle and kicked up frame on the rear of the chassis. The car was pained deep purple lacquer and fitted with a set of 112-appletons and 1949 Cadillac sombrero hubcaps.
