George Barris 1936 Ford Cabriolet

This 1936 Ford Cabriolet is mentioned in the Dan Post Blue book of Custom Restyling as beeing a Barris built car. I have no other confirmations that it in fact is, but most likely it is an early George Barris creation. Posebly built while George was workign/learning the body man trade at Harry Westergard. This 1936 Ford has again many elements that have made Harry so famous, and most likely George was very impressed with the work from Harry. The unique headlights where set into pods that where molded to the tops of the fenders. It looks like some late 30’s Cadillac headlights pods where used for this. The stock grille opening was filled in a a turned upside down Nash grille was added. The hood sides where replaces with sollid units and the horn grilles had to make place for parking lights. The windshield was chopped a few inches and a padded top was made to fit. 1937 DeSoto bumpers and at the rear Ford Accessory fenderskirts. Black wall tires with single bar flipper hubcaps and what looks to be a light colored metallic paint.
